In Situ Steam Enhanced Recovery Process

ثبت نشده
چکیده

The SERP technology is designed to treat soils contaminated with VOCs and SVOCs in situ. Steam injection and vacuum extraction are used to remove the organic compounds from the soil and concentrate them for disposal or recycling. A full-scale demonstration of SERP was conducted at the Rainbow Disposal site in Huntington Beach, CA. The technology removed some of the diesel fuel hydrocarbons from the site soil, but did not meet the site cleanup objective of 1,000 mg/kg (ppm) total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH). Operational problems during treatment may have impacted the treatment effectiveness. A detailed economic analysis of the application of this technology was performed. The SERP technology was evaluated based on seven criteria used for decision-making in the Superfund Feasibility Study process. Results of the evaluation are summarized in Table 1.

Simultaneous high hydrogen content-synthesis gas production and in-situ CO2 removal via sorption-enhanced reaction process: modeling, sensitivity analysis and multi-objective optimization using NSGA-II algorithm

The main focus of this study is improvement of the steam-methane reforming (SMR) process by in-situ CO2 removal to produce high hydrogen content synthesis gas. Sorption-enhanced (SE) concept is applied to improve process performance. In the proposed structure, the solid phase CO2 adsorbents and pre-reformed gas stream are introduced to a gas-flowing solids-fixed bed reactor (GFSFBR). One dimens...

Application of Homotopy Perturbation Method to One-dimensional Transient Single-phase EM Heating Model

Thermal recovery involves well-known processes such as steam injection (cyclic steam stimulation, steam drive, and steam-assisted gravity drainage), in situ combustion, and a more recent technique that consists of heating the reservoir with electrical energy. When high frequency is used for heating, it is called electromagnetic (EM) heating. The applications of EM heating for heavy-oil reservoi...

A Pore Scale Evaluation of Produced Biosurfactants for Ex-situ Enhanced Oil Recovery

Microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) is an economical method used to improve the oil recovery from reservoirs. In the MEOR techniques, by applying different microorganisms, a variety of products such as bioacid, biogas, biosurfactant, and biopolymer are generated, among which biosurfactant, one of the important metabolites, is produced by bacteria. It is worthy to note that bacteria are suita...

Neural Network Meta-Modeling of Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage Oil Recovery Processes

Production of highly viscous tar sand bitumen using Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) with a pair of horizontal wells has advantages over conventional steam flooding. This paper explores the use of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) as an alternative to the traditional SAGD simulation approach. Feed forward, multi-layered neural network meta-models are trained through the Back-...

A Case Study to Evaluate the Role of Basiluses in Producing Biosurfactant and the Feasibility of MEOR

Bibi Hakimeh oilfield consists of more than 145 oil producing wells. Its Oligomiocene Asmari reservoir is dominantly made of limestone. The act of a reverse fault on the north flank of Bibi-Hakimeh Field caused a significant thickness reduction in Gachsaran formation in the way that in some drilled wells, members No. 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Gachsaran cap rock have been totally eliminated. This caus...
